volunteering at a zoo?
If I want to get into vet assistants or anything would working at a zoo help me with that?
I looked at my local zoo and there is a list of different things I could do while volunteering and one was giving veterinary hospital tours but I really doubt that would help me with furthering my career. I am just starting out..haven't taken any classes but want to get experience now. Should I call and ask if I can volunteer at the hospital at the zoo rather than giving tours?

Knowing how something works and what does what is very valuable information. Thus giving tours of a vet clinic is not pointless. It will allow you not only to get to know the people that work there (networking is wonderful) but it will allow you to deepen your knowledge of how the places works, what they do and the tools they use. After all you cannot give a tour if you know nothing about the place.
If you rather volunteer to work at the hospital ask about that first, but by all means DO NOT throw the tour idea out the window.
When it comes to working at a zoo schooling is very important, but experience is key as well.
