The Kardashian Family is Giving Back to One Local Talent in New Orleans
A Long Island native who has adopted New Orleans as home for over 10 years has added another A-list name to her long resume of celebrity clients she has worked with. New Orleans locals have titled Brandy Gomez-Duplessis as their Celebrity Makeup Artist and once again she has proven them right.
The Kardashians were in New Orleans on Monday, May 19, 2008 to promote the Style Network reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" Season 3 to more networks at The Cable Show '08, which was held at the Convention Center from May 18-20 2008. Their season finale also showed the Kardashian family in New Orleans helping a family whose lives was affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis provided makeup and eyelash extension services to the Kardashian girls (Kim and Khloe) and also the mother, Kris Jenner. She also had the opportunity to use some of her own personal makeup "Queen B" cosmetics on the girls which they loved. Their favorites were the popular lip-sparklettes "Diamond and Pixie".
Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis said, "The Kardashians are my new BFF. They were very professional girls very soft spoken and very pretty. They have amazing skin and killer bodies. As soon as I entered the hotel room, Kris Jenner made me feels very comfortable. She greeted me with a hug, offered me breakfast and she even let me call her mom when addressing her. Kris gave me tips about my career and also asked for my store information because she wanted to come by with the girls and her mom to see my makeup studio. Kim was very quiet at first, but I guess my over-the-top personality made her feel comfortable that she shared with me her upcoming projects she was working on. She actually wanted to know more about me."
"They loved how I did their makeup and both Kris and Kim asked me for my information. Because Kim will be making more trips to New Orleans, she will need a makeup artist for appearances, I guess. Kim loves smoky eyes and I love doing glam makeup, so I'm perfect for her. The funny thing about working with Kim is I also worked with Reggie, Kim's boyfriend on a photo shoot. And they have the same personality, both very soft spoken and kind of shy until they feel comfortable with you. I just can't wait to see my lip sparklettes and lip gloss on the girls. They ended up receiving about 8 of the 'Queen B' lip colors. Now that's a blessing and I do look forward to working with Kim and her family again. Kris Jenner is awesome; I loved her she has great energy, just what you see on the show."
Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis is represented by Zenobia Agency in Los Angeles and is looking for representation in New York and Miami.

The ad strikes me the following ways:
1. The funny clothes and complicated jewelry are eye-catching, which is 90% of an advertisement's job. But they also convey a sense of sophistication and success. These two women look like they have power and confidence to be dressed thus so.
2. The arm around the back indicates closeness....a valued trait women want to encourage for themselves. Buy our purse, and your friends will be the RIGHT kind of friend (sophisticated, confident, powerful) and YOU'LL be close to them. The hand on the arm is a touch much, but probably put there because the arm around the back is mostly hidden.
3. The contrasting between the two girls also reinforces this "unique, but close" feeling. No woman WANTS to be regarded as similar to other women. Notice the plaid on one and the poka dots on the other; the wild lipstick and the conservative makeup; the bright blond and the deep brunette hair; the orange on one (free spirit) and the pink on the other (girlie, effeminate). So this ad was designed to appeal to a vast range of women who would find something to relate themselves to one womena...and likely a close friend of theirs to the other.
